Green River fly fishing guide
                   Utah
The Green River in Utah started seeing some of its first guides in the 1970'S and starting around then is when the Green River fly fishing guides started giving spots on the river colorful and creative names. The Green River really started to get recognized for is World-Class fly fishing in the late 1980'S when the fly fishing Media got wind of the Green River's 10 to 15 thousand fish per mile and what an amazing fishery the Green River really was and still is.
The Green River has seen a change over the years, some bugs that were not here in the 80'S and early 90'S have just shown up out of nowhere. For example The Green River below Flaming Gorge Reservoir did not have a Yellow Sally hatch in the late 90'S when I moved here, and now it is one of our best hatches.
The Green River has also seen and I will admit it a slight drop in average fish size. When I moved here the average size fish was 16 inches and now its between 14-15 inches with roughly the same fish per mile population that it had back then. Witch is not bad at all considering the record breaking drought that we went through that lasted several years, and lets face it what fishery fishes as good as it did 20 years ago, next to none.
I still catch plenty of fish over 20 inches each year, and with the new regulations (you can keep two fish under 15 inches and 1 fish over 22 inches) The average size fish in the Green River has no choice but to get bigger.
